Stem Mastering

Stem mastering is a process that offers greater control over the sonic shape and balance of your music.

Traditional mastering sees the engineer work on a single (stereo) mix file, adjusting the EQ and dynamics of the music as a whole, which can limit the possibilities of accessing problem areas of a mix.

It’s almost like doing a mini-mix before the final master.

What are the benefits?

Stem mastering allows an engineer to more easily access and isolate individual elements of a mix, allowing them to adjust the EQ and dynamics of the music without compromise. The engineer may not need to make changes to every stem, but the process provides the option to do so.

Stem mastering can be as simple as working from two stems (e.g., vocal and instrumental) or multiple stems; more stems mean greater flexibility and control.

Track Check

A brand new service from our award-winning engineers

Track Check is the final quality control step before submitting your song for mastering.

Our engineers will provide feedback on everything from balance and spatial image to headroom, phase, limiting, and compression, helping you arrive at a mix that will lead to an even better master.

The Service

Our engineers will offer expert guidance on:
Correct Format (WAV/ AIFF/ BWAV), Sample Rate, Bit Depth, Headroom, Phase, Balance and spatial image, Quality (distortion, clipping, clicks, and dropouts – anything that may need to be cleaned up, restored, or resupplied), Limiting and Compression
