💫 By 1999, @joecockerofficial was well into his 💫 By 1999, @joecockerofficial was well into his 50s, a gentleman enjoying his scotch and cigar while sitting on a very comfortable sofa in our studio. As an artist, he was a king of soul, rock, and pop music, and he continued to push his artistry forward. It was impressive for me because I was in my twenties and the learning curve was steep, but I was aware that these were my golden days and a lifetime opportunity 🤯   📅 Mastering “My Father’s Son” and “Soul Rising” for his 17th studio album “No Ordinary World,” released today in 1999, was again a mind-blowing opportunity. His rough, soulful voice blends two separate songs. “My Father’s Son” is a highly personal song with a gradual, dramatic build using piano, strings, and quiet percussion, allowing Cocker’s vocals to take center stage and deliver massive depth and emotional weight. I loved it, but retaining the balance between the dynamic vocal performance and the subtle instrumental backdrop was tough. Although the mix was pretty awesome, ensuring that the emotional delivery remains front and center was a nice challenge.   On the other hand, “Soul Rising” is a more energetic song, blending rock with blues and a touch of funk. The challenge in mastering this music was to achieve clarity while maintaining a powerful groove. I needed to highlight the dynamic range, emphasize the punchiness of the brass and percussion, and keep Cocker’s vocals crisp and distinct in the mix.   Mission accomplished, as “No Ordinary World” reached #3 in Germany and #2 in Norway. 🍭 British girl band @atomickittenofficial’s s 🍭 British girl band @atomickittenofficial’s second album “Feels So Good” was released today in 2003. @leopoldoslopes helped produce two songs on the album, “Love Doesn’t Have To Hurt” and “Baby Don’t You Hurt Me.” These two songs were not the hit factor songs on Atomic Kitten’s album, ✌🏻 even though pop is a genre that requires the hit factor, the step-up of his work had to be a high degree of expectations and excellence. This album is most known for two songs: “The Tide Is High (Get the Feeling),” originally by The Paragons and popularized by Blondie, and “It’s OK!”. Commercially, the album was a success, hitting the top ten on the UK Albums Chart and receiving platinum certification in the UK. 💫 Also worth noting is that pop icon @kylieminogue co-wrote the title single “Feels So Good”. Kylie was at the top of her game then, so Atomic Kitten was excited to have her on board.
